Patient/public involvement

Effective Patient and Public Involvement is working in partnership, effectively and respectfully and following through on joint decisions.  Crowe Associates works in partnership, with organisations that share our values and aspirations.  We 'walk the talk',  understand the challenges, and the extra mile that is needed in effective patient/public involvement. Our main partners have been:

  • Warwick University
  • Birmingham University
  • Prostate Cancer Alliance
  • Engage 2 Excel
  • Minervation (knowledge web developers)
  • Royal College of Nursing Institute
  • Skills for Care (Oxfordshire, Bucks and Milton Keynes)
  • James Lind Alliance www.lindalliance.org
  • Bucks County Council

Our partnership projects have been long term (2 years plus), or one off workshops and seminars.  We have helped service delivery organisations undertake effective consultations, run productive meetings and workshops and worked with staff on their attitudes to Patient and Public Involvement.  We also work with research groups on effective strategies for patient and public involvement in all aspects of the research cycle.  Three examples of projects are:

TriME project - involving mental health service users to help construct a website promoting mental health clinical trials www.trime.org.uk

UK Prostate Link www.prostate-link.org.uk  involving men with prostate cancer and their carers in developing a website that signposts evidence based information on all aspects of prostate cancer.

Getting Involved Project where service users and carers were involved in developing and delivering social care training workshops.  Details of this project are in the Involvement section of the Log on to Care site www.logontocare.org.uk
